Lakeshore Drive Project

Progress has been slow on the project thus far, but the first phase (East of Isle Royale Street) is close to being finished. The weather has not cooperated either, but we expect things to start moving a lot faster as we get into July.

The utilities are pretty much done and over the next week or two the sidewalks and road will be getting work done.

The next phase has them moving to the block between Huron and Isle Royale. This block should not take as long as the first phase.

As the construction work gets to the locations behind operating businesses it will affect trash pickup and some deliveries. The contractor, Hebert, will be working with those businesses directly to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. It is in the contract that they have to make accommodations in the work so your customers can get in and out, your trash gets picked up, and your deliveries will happen. Waste Management has already been involved in looking at how trash will be handled. Hebert will be bringing in some temporary sidewalk for certain areas like we did on Shelden in 2009, but they won’t be needed everywhere. People from both Hebert and UPEA will be reaching out to you as construction gets closer to you to make sure your needs are addressed.
