The RV Park has
25 units and is
located next to
the Kestner
Waterfront Park
at the western
end of the four
mile paved,
non-motorized,
waterfront trail
that connects to
a packed trail
system along an
abandoned
railroad grade
for many more
miles. Downtown
Houghton is a
half mile away
along the lit
trail. There are
a variety of
restaurants,
gift shops and a
hardware store
downtown. The
highway business
district
provides a
Walmart, Shopko,
Econo Foods, and
Tractor Supply.
Park
amenities
include: paved
sites, water and
sewer
connections,
20-30-50 amp
electric
service,
satellite TV
with 16
channels, Wi-Fi;
with a covered
patio, picnic
table, park
bench, BBQ
grill, and fire
ring at each
site. We do not
accept pop-up
campers or tents
as there are no
bathroom/shower
facilities in
the park.
The Kestner
Waterfront Park
consists of a
sandy bathing
beach, pavilion,
picnic tables,
fishing piers,
boat launch, and
Chutes and
Ladders
playground.
The park will be
open from May
15, 2018 to
October.
Reservations:
The City of
Houghton RV Park
is a small park
and our hosts
pride themselves
on being able to
provide personal
service and are
able to schedule
stays at the RV
Park for as many
guests each
summer as
possible. We
schedule by
telephone only.
We do not use a
web-based
reservation
system that many
larger parks
use. We've found
that for such a
small park an
impersonal
electronic
system simply
cannot shuffle a
schedule around
to keep a park
full, nor can it
speak with
guests to help
modify their
travel plans
slightly to get
them into the
park. While some
may find this
old fashioned
way of
scheduling to be
out of date or
annoying, we've
thus far found
that it works
out the best for
making sure the
park gets
filled.
The RV Park is
typically
scheduled at 99%
to 100%
occupancy for
the prime summer
months. This is
a credit to the
hosts who work
hard to make
sure that as
many people get
to enjoy time in
Houghton at our
RV Park as
possible.
